Laura Flynn is our Administrative Officer the Evolve Bury Campus.
Her role is key in running the tight ship that is EMC, and she supports the Centre Manager with admin duties, enrolling new recruits and filing paperwork. As a training centre for young people, it’s absolutely pivotal that our documentation is kept up to date and with Laura’s sharp attention to detail, we make sure that everything is exactly as it should be.
She says:
My own military experience includes completing full army training at Pirbright before moving on to my unit with the RLC as a driver.
Joining the Army was all I ever wanted to do and I joined Evolve because I wanted to make a difference to the lives of young people and to make sure that they are fully prepared for military life. I sit on the reception desk in Bury and so I am often the first person that our learners come in to contact with and I try to give them a warm welcome, as well as helping to instil the self-discipline, core values and respect for others that is so important in the military.
The best part of the job for me is being able to help change young lives for the better. They often walk though our doors as shy teenagers, and then leave as amazing, confident young men and woman with the world at their feet.
If I had to give them one piece of advice, I would say push yourself, train hard and never give up, even when the going gets tough – which is will!
Working as a team is crucial so ask for help if it’s needed. Learning all the core values as well as basic life skills will make you a better person both in and out of the army. Enrolling with Evolve Military College is the best thing you will ever do.
