The cream of Manchester’s food, drink and hospitality industries were honoured at the inaugural Eat Drink Sleep Awards. More than 63,000 votes were cast by the public across 34 different categories honouring everything from Best Pub to Best Wedding Venue.

The winners received their awards, nicknamed The Drinkies, at a glitzy ceremony in the ballroom of the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel on Monday night, where Real Housewives of Cheshire star Magali Gorre, attending with her ex-footballer husband Dean, was among those presenting the prizes.

Awards were split geographically into South, Central and North Manchester to honour a wide range of venues across the region. Some of the city centre’s swankiest venues were celebrating success at the awards – including Italian restaurant Rosso, which won Best Premium Dining, celeb haunt bar Neighbourhood, which won Best Premium Casual Dining, and Nutters Restaurantwhich won Best Wedding Venue.

The Drinkies’ event founder Paul Kilroe also paid tribute to the burgeoning hospitality scene in Manchester. He said, “This city has changed in the last 15 years beyond recognition, and these awards celebrate the people who have changed the face of this city…” A huge “congratulations” to all the worthy winners!
