Business Development Manager

An opportunity has arisen to join Rowe Hankins Ltd. as a Business Development Manager to support the growth of our business portfolio both UK and Overseas. The UK transport sector is experiencing unprecedented levels of investment and you will play a vital role in identifying and leading major pursuits working across a range of transportation related sales and bids. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, requiring strong commercial awareness and promoting the Rowe Hankins Ltd. brand. You will have the ability to establish and meet deadlines, multi-task and prioritise multiple, simultaneous events. Ideally, we are looking for in depth knowledge of a range of transportation solutions, particularly in relation to the Rail industry. You will be based remotely with your time to be taken up with depot / customer visits and reporting to the main office in Bury as required.

Main responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Seek out and lead the early identification of new opportunities for the business primarily within the UK Rail sector.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team and relevant departments to understand the market, analyse customer needs and identify opportunities to increase revenue 
  • Prepare sales forecasts and targets and manage those targets such that the Sales forecasts are met or bettered on an annual basis.
  • Maximise sales opportunities and negotiate third party deals when necessary, using your knowledge and understanding of contract law. 
  • Lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams to contribute towards the development of the sales pipeline.
  • Sustain rapport with key accounts by making periodic visits, exploring specific needs and anticipating new opportunities.
  • Provide commercial and technical solutions that meet customer and the market’s need.

Head of Sales and Marketing

Rowe Hankins Ltd. is expanding, leading to an opportunity to the Company at a senior level as a Head of Sales and Marketing who would report to the Chief Executive Officer. You will ideally come from the railway industry, with a comprehensive understanding of railway traction and or with an electrical / mechanical / electronic background. In addition, you should have relevant knowledge of Bidding & Tendering within the Railway industry. You will have an entrepreneurial approach to Sales, along with Engineering knowledge.

The successful candidate will lead the Sales team and the Marketing communications strategy to contribute towards the growth of Rowe Hankins Ltd. You will be responsible for developing the future of the Company and promote the brand of Rowe Hankins Ltd. The main focus will be on growing / expanding the business portfolio both UK and Overseas with a target growth of over £1m increase year on year.

You will be based remotely with your time to be taken up with depot / customer visits UK wide and at times requiring international travel and reporting to the main office in Bury as required.

Main responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Collaborate with the Sales & Marketing teams to plan and lead the Sales strategy.
  • Collaborate with team members and business departments, to produce the Annual Sales Plan.
  • Work with the Sales Team to set sales objectives and align to the Business Plan including budgets and ROI.
  • Produce and deliver to the business KPIs that are SMART and demonstrate your successes.
  • Map and track all works being worked on and future business using the Company CRM, to show as a minimum, works bid upon, working on, won, lost, including a lessons learned metric.
  • Work collaboratively with the Sales & Marketing teams and relevant departments to understand the market, analyse customer needs and identify opportunities to increase revenue and the Sales pipeline.
  • Lead the Marketing strategy and identify new revenue opportunities and optimise Rowe Hankins Ltd., Marketing processes.
  • Improve product marketability and external communications by liaising with the relevant departments to aid with R and D, PR and corporate communication, advertising, data analytics, social channel management, annual media campaigns and events.
  • Lead and evaluate the Marketing and Sales objectives and communicate relevant information in meetings and reports.
  • Continually assess and track effectiveness of campaigns and activities to ensure the budget spend delivers a ROI.
  • Maximise Sales and Marketing opportunities around keys dates and negotiate third party deals when necessary, using your knowledge and understanding of contract law.

Stores Operative

At Rowe Hankins Ltd. you will join a collaborative stores team controlling the operation of goods in and out of the Company. This includes the coordination of picking of goods for manufacture and control of internal stock. You will be responsible for completing annual audits and maintaining a high level of housekeeping. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic environment and will have excellent communication and strong time management skills.

Main responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Accept and process all deliveries goods-in and out of the premises.
  • Pick, pack and dispatch of customer orders including completion of relevant documentation. 
  • Complete requisitions upon receipt from production and service departments including quality checks.
  • Complete supplier returns if raw materials are of an unsatisfactory standard.
  • Management of the storage of stock including full and rolling stock takes and audits.
  • Housekeeping including general maintenance.
Bids, Tenders &
Engagement Co-Ordinator

Rowe Hankins Ltd. is expanding leading to a terrific opportunity for a collaborative, supportive individual to join our team as a Bids, Tenders & Engagement Co-Ordinator. You will take up a vital role in shaping the future of the business, identifying and driving profitable growth. The successful candidate will collaborate with multiple departments and the wider business, forging partnership to ensure high quality, winning bids, are effectively mobilised and delivered. You will ensure appropriate levels of governance and accuracy is applied to any winning strategy, utilising your commercial knowledge and Rail Sector understanding. You will have excellent negotiation skills, and be commercially astute in your ability to structure bid presentation and delivery.

Main responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Identify and report on new sales and tendering opportunities.
  • Lead cross functional teams in the planning and writing of compelling bid submissions in line with the Company strategy.
  • Deliver compliant and professionally produced bids and proposals within stakeholder defined timeframes.
  • Arrange and lead on customer bid meetings including post bid reviews. 
  • Research potential customers and address the technical and commercial risks related to any bids being actively worked on.
  • Maintain a register of all tenders submitted, accurately capturing client requirements and associated documentation. 
  • Act as point of contact for customers during the tendering process.
  • Develop customer and stakeholder relationships to facilitate on time delivery and optimise efficiency and quality.

Business Admin Apprentice 

A unique opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join the team as a Business Admin Apprentice. You will provide a range of administrative support and assistance to multiple teams with a focus on sales and customer support. You will be expected to maintain up to date accurate information on computerised records and systems to produce reports and documents in line with Company standards. The successful candidate will have a willingness to learn and a great attention to detail and in return the Company provide career and professional development opportunities.

Main responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Assist the Sales Department with order processing and customer queries efficiently by phone or email.
  • Handle inbound calls from both existing and new customers.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service at all times to internal & external stakeholders.
  • Set up new customers accounts and maintain existing customer details.
  • Provide support across other functions of the business on an ad hoc basis
  • Complete any filing or archiving.

With a global reputation for quality, reliability and innovation, Rowe Hankins Ltd.’s experienced engineers have a long and successful track record giving the highest possible level of service to rail projects worldwide.

In addition, we provide electro-mechanical and electronic products service facilities to maintain, overhaul and repair circuit breakers, contractors and on-train monitoring and recording (OTMR) systems. At the forefront of our service facilities is a specialist DC current injection system, capable of 5,000A continuous and ramped current output, extendable to 10,000A. In addition, we have a dedicated circuit breaker tester capable of testing up to 125 Amps and measure trip times down to 1 millisecond.
