Genpower business expansion

St. Modwen Logistics, one of the UK’s leading logistics developers and owners, has supported Genpower business expansion – a flourishing Welsh business, to scale up into a sustainable, 100,000 sq ft warehouse which will provide economic growth in the region. This comes at a time when the South West and Wales regions are experiencing a shortage of quality, Grade A warehouse space.

The big-box warehouse at St. Modwen Park Newport will allow the Genpower business expansion – which appeared in the Wales Fast Growth 50 list in 2021– to continue its offering of a complete e-fulfilment service. This involves picking, packing, and distributing Hyundai Power Products across the UK. The move has created 25 additional jobs within the company, with this figure expected to increase as orders continue to rise.

St. Modwen Park Newport is located at the gateway to South Wales, just 12 miles from Cardiff and 30 miles from Bristol.  The park follows the St. Modwen Swan Standard, with enhancements across five key areas: environment and sustainability, wellbeing, community, transport and security.

The new warehouse delivers a BREEAM Very Good and EPC A rating through the inclusion of building fabric designed to improve air tightness above current building regulation; photovoltaic solar panels and EV Vehicle Charging that reduce energy demand, costs and carbon impact for the customer.

Genpower is also investing in sustainability and has committed to giving back to the planet through its tree planting scheme. This sees one tree planted for every order that is dispatched and the business has already planted around 230,000 trees in the past 18 months.

“We’re delighted to be working with Genpower, a local business that shares our vision in supporting the sustainability agenda, and are thrilled to be welcoming the business to St. Modwen Park Newport. Genpower has experienced rapid expansion and it’s fantastic that we were able to accommodate a larger space for them to carry out their distribution services. We have experienced an increased demand for high-quality warehouse space at St Modwen Park Newport, and we look forward to building more high-quality sustainable warehouses to meet this demand and supporting economic growth and job creation in Wales.”

“With such limited space in Wales we’re thrilled to have been able to secure this warehouse at St. Modwen Park Newport that aligns with our own sustainability ambitions. After reaching capacity at our previous location, we needed an additional facility that could support our ambitious growth plans and net zero carbon targets. We have now completed the fit out of the new warehouse and have been in operation since the beginning of February. We have some exciting developments planned for our warehouse management system and integration with semi-automated Very Narrow Aisle forklifts.”
