At St. Modwen Logistics, we work hard to preserve the history of our parks. To celebrate Armed Forces Day on 25th June, we are happy to announce our sponsorship of a new Polish Air Force Bomber Squadron (PAFBS) heritage trail, part of which is located at St. Modwen Park Lincoln.
Our park at Lincoln formed part of the RAF Swinderby base in World War II and is now part of the PAFBS trail, which takes people to six different locations around Lincolnshire – all of which were formerly airfields where the Polish Bomber Squadron personnel were based.
Locations include RAF Ingham, RAF Hemswell, RAF Faldingworth, RAF Dunholme Lodge, and RAF Swinderby. The final board is located at Newark Cemetery, where many of the personnel were laid to rest.
On 24th May, the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Manchester, Mr Michal Mazurek, unveiled the board at St. Modwen Park Lincoln. The board features information around the history of the site, as well as images of what it used to look like during World War II.
Lincolnshire district councillors and RAF Ingham Heritage Centre chairman, Geoff Burton, also attended the unveiling, to show their support and pay respects to those who fought in the war.
