The fifth annual St. Modwen Charity Run for LandAid – dubbed the toughest 10km in the Midlands – returns this September, raising vital funds in the fight against youth homelessness. Hosted by St. Modwen and taking place on Thursday 28th September 2023, more than 300 competitors from across the property industry are expected to hit the streets of Longbridge to tackle either a 5km or 10km challenge, in a bid to raise £45,000 for the charity.

Individuals of all abilities are encouraged to take part in the event, whether they choose to run, walk or cheer on from the crowd. Runners completing the 10km course will face a notoriously challenging but scenic route, with a combined incline of more than 120m, starting at Longbridge town centre and through the hilly Cofton Park, before looping back to the finish line.

Since partnering with LandAid, the property industry charity, St. Modwen has raised more than £205,000 through various fundraising efforts, with more than £185,000 raised across the four previous runs alone. The event has now become a firm fixture in the running and charity calendars for businesses and individuals across the West Midlands.

All funds raised will support local youth homelessness charities such as St Basils. LandAid Midlands is currently fundraising for the furnishing and fitout costs of the Live and Work Phase 2 project, which provides affordable accommodation and employment opportunities for young people in the West Midlands facing homelessness.

As well as those in the property world, professional teams from the region’s legal, financial services and consultancy sectors are also encouraged to take part, with prizes available for those who raise the most funds and the highest-placed teams.

Following the run, participants will retreat to nearby Herbert’s Yard to refuel with a variety of street food options and drinks available.

Now in its fifth year, the St. Modwen Charity Run continues to go from strength to strength, with last year’s race seeing more than 300 people take part. This year we’re hoping to raise a record amount and do as much as we can to support our friends at St. Basil’s with their groundbreaking work in Sandwell. “Longbridge plays an important role in the history of St. Modwen and we look forward to once again bringing the community together to show the runners what a fantastic place it is to live and work.”

Sarwjit Sambhi, chief executive of St. Modwen

A variety of sponsorship packages have been agreed to support fundraising efforts, headlined by the opportunity to be title sponsor of the event village. Interested parties can contact landaidcharityrun@stmodwen.co.uk for available sponsorship opportunities.

“We are continuedly grateful for the support that St Modwen give LandAid each year with this event. It is lovely to watch it grow and to ultimately help more young people facing homelessness in the area year on year. With 129,000 young people between 16-25 years approaching their local council for housing support across the UK, last year alone, we know this is needed more than ever.”

Paul Morrish, CEO of LandAid
