St. Modwen Logistics, one of the UK’s leading logistics developers and managers, today gave a further signal of its confidence in Newport as a home for business growth as it launched four new high-quality, sustainable warehouses at St. Modwen Park Newport.
The buildings, which total 116,000 sq ft, have been developed to meet growing demand from businesses who are looking to expand their operations but have been restricted by a chronic undersupply of space across the region. A 17,000 sq ft warehouse has already been taken by adhesive manufacturer Ureka Global, with three further spaces ranging between 24,000 – 43,000 sq ft available for businesses to occupy immediately.
Developed with sustainability and energy efficiency at front of mind, the quartet of warehouses have all been rated as “Very Good” by BREEAM, the certification body for sustainability in the construction industry, and given an EPC certificate of ‘A’, indicating that significant energy efficiency features have been included in the building to lower usage and, ultimately, costs.
Built in line with St. Modwen’s ‘Swan Standard’ approach to sustainable construction, the buildings feature intelligent and sustainable LED lighting, smart metering and rainwater harvesting. Air source heat pumps are used for heating the office elements of the warehouses and solar (PV) panels on the roofs provide a proportion of the power for each unit, as well as encouraging greener ways of commuting through the inclusion on EV charging points and dedicated cycling routes.
