This June, six members of the St. Modwen Logistics team will don their lycra and clip into their pedals as they aim to ride 270 miles from London to Amsterdam in the name of charity.
The team is made up of Richard Bailey, Tom Olsen, Gareth Hutchings, Peter Cross, James Cooper and Oliver Smith, who will spend three days from the 15th – 17th June trying to avoid potholes and chafing in equal measure as they raise vital funds for Habitat for Humanity, an international charity fighting global poverty and homelessness.
Starting from Orpington, London, the team will first make their way to Calais – via ferry, not swimming – and then ride up the coast of France through Belgium and the Netherlands, taking in sights such as Dunkirk and Rotterdam on the way, before arriving in the Dutch capital.
The ride is organised by Revantage and brings together many of Blackstone’s portfolio companies with a goal of raising a total of £200,000. Many of those dusting off their bikes – including Richard – were part of last year’s edition which saw the group raise £150,000 by cycling to Paris. Numbers have doubled since then, with around 70 riders set to take part this year.
