St. Modwen Park Access 18 Avonmouth

Wellbeing

The park features a trim trail which can be used by employees and the general public alike, and is popular amongst employees who spend their lunchtime walking around St. Modwen Park Access 18 Avonmouth and also local runners who can add the park to their running routes.

Designed with employee wellbeing as a priority, the park offers the opportunity to work in modern and warm buildings which are flooded with natural light, whilst mature landscaping and water features give employees, on the park, a pleasant and green space in which to spend their lunch breaks.

Commuting is made easier by the installation of connected cycle paths and footways which link the park to nearby facilities and each building also features its own EV charging points, as well as standard car park spaces, further encouraging environmentally friendly ways to travel to the park.

Biodiversity

The park was built on an old smelting works so understandably, in its previous life, biodiversity would have been non-existent. As part of the park’s development we have set the foundations to reintroduce and encourage a number of rare species to the watercourses in and around the park.

Otters and water voles are just two of the UK priority species to have returned, whilst Kingfishers are now found throughout the Avonmouth rhine network. Fittingly, there are also a number of swans who have made the lakes across the park their homes.

This is in part down to three Ecological Enhancement Areas (EEA) on the park which help to provide a ‘green corridor’ to encourage local habitat creation and bolster local biodiversity. In addition, the EEAs also feature open water, grassland and woodland habitats and the planting of wildflower meadows and shrubs – providing green spaces for employees to use and enjoy.

Community

Local communities benefit from our investment to improve water purity and biodiversity around Avonmouth and beyond. We have made substantial contributions to the creation of the nearby Severn Estuary – one of largest of its kind in Europe to protect wintering habitats for protected birds and species.

The lakes on the park also help to support the local water quality. Water which passes through the surface water attenuation ponds (SWAPs) is naturally treated as it flows through reeds before heading into the River Severn via a series of connected waterways.

When developing the park we were constantly monitoring to ensure that we are able to provide a robust surface water drainage system to lessen the potential impact and burden on local water networks.
